France is such a wonderful and exciting country! It is full of rich history, food, and magical experiences. However, many people get caught up in the idea that France only contains Paris. Wrong! Don’t get me wrong Paris is absolutely amazing, but it should not be the only stop on your vacation in France. This list will contain some must see stops (and some personal don’ts), not only in Paris but in some parts of the country as well!
Paris-The City of Lights
DO’s
Don’t
- Disneyland Paris
- Arc de Triomphe
Ok! So, the dos are pretty self-explanatory. All these places are filled with mountains of rich history and breathtaking art. I recommend starting your day early as the lines do get long! However, a great part is that you can do English self-guided tours! Basically, they either give you a head piece or mini-speaker on a lanyard, then you type in the corresponding number and viola, historical information at your fingertips! I would definitely skip Disney, if you’ve been to one you’ve been to them all. For the most part its expensive to enter and I believe that Paris has so many other wonderful things to offer instead. Also, the Arc de Triomphe is exactly what is says, just an arc. I would not go out of my way to visit it, most likely you will end up passing by it in your car or tour bus on the way to something else.
Nice-Beautiful waterfront
Do’s
- The beach
- Castle of Nice
- Musée Matisse
Don’t
- After dark Promenade des Anglais
Let’s start with the don’t, the Promenade des Anglais is a beautiful walkway that features large stretches of beautiful beach. However, like most places it may get a little dangerous at night. On our last trip our tour guide warned us that a girl had been kidnapped from their not to long before our arrival. Even though police activity has increased in the area we were told to avoid traveling alone in the area at night if we have to. Nice is a wonderful place to relax and kick back and enjoy some art created my Matisse.
Safety First!
Chamonix-Country side
Do’s
- Mont Blanc
- Cabe Car ride
- Chemin de fer du Montenvers
Don’t
- Not only skiing!
The biggest mistake people make when they go to France during the summer is not visiting the Alps. Chamonix contains Mont Blanc, which contains the highest summit in the Alps. People often do not visit because of the lack of snow! You can still ride the cable cars to the top of Aiguille du Midi and take in the views! Also, Chemin de fer du Montenvers is the best way to get their and enjoy the views from the train!
